TICK-BORNE DISEASE ALERT: BARTONELLA PREVALENCE HIGHER THANLYME IN NOVA SCOTIA TICKS

Ticks are known to be vectors for many diseases, including Lyme disease, a bacterial infection
caused by the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria. However, a lesser-known pathogen called
Bartonella, which can cause a variety of symptoms ranging from fever and fatigue to joint
pain and neurological problems, has been found to be present in ticks in Nova Scotia.
